Build Things

Stokes specializes in adapting traditional woodworking to digital fabrication processes- mainly CNC machining - and using that for the manufacturing of wood parts or complete products.  We also provide the individual services of CNC and laser cutting.

Originally founded by owner Bryce Williamson in 2013 in Queens, New York, we relocated our manufacturing facility in 2018 to a former sock knitting mill in Burlington, North Carolina. Our close proximity to the rich furniture manufacturing tradition of the North Carolina Piedmont allows us to work with many specialized vendors.

We are focused on combining digital and traditional fabrication techniques for the design, prototyping, and manufacturing of products, furniture, and architectural millwork. The shop is interested in adapting traditional practices, such as woodworking joinery, to the CNC router to facilitate increased precision and efficiency in production, while also pursuing purely digital possibilities.
